According to director, James Nguyen, his new movie, Birdemic is a ‘romantic thriller’…
Is it? You tell me…
Here’s the trailer. Keep watching. It gets good…
And check out the incredibly impressive, official Birdemic website.
A thousand beaks of gratitude go to the mighty Tim H for putting me onto this piece of brilliance.

I’ve now got tinnitus.
I just convinced a random stranger to marry me by sending her this video using YouTube’s share function. That’s how romantic it is.
Birdemic synopsis “A platoon of eagles & vultures attack the residence of a small town. Many people died.”
Try as you like, only crazy can write crazy. I’m very happy this is in my brain now.

I’m stunned.
The HD trailer on the birdemic website had me on the edge of my seat the whole time. I mean, I couldn’t take it all in.
The uneven sound mix, the continuity, the godawful editing (well, not editing as such; more “we did this shot…then we did that shot…then we did this shot…lets put them all in order…), the absence of acting, the bird-peck eye makeup. There was just so much to absorb.
But the birds…my god, the birds. I almost wet myself with fear.
Aside: is there some kind of spooky reason you spell his name Gnuyen rather than Nguyen? Is it an elk in-joke? Some kind of moose reference I missed?
Oh goodness, I actually interviewed this peculiar man about four years ago. At the time, he was supervising the construction of a spaceship. YES, A SPACESHIP. Like, to go into space.
Here’s the interview: http://sfist.com/2005/11/09/entrepreneur_filmmaker_and_space_tourguide.php
He is very intense. He insisted on buying me a salad as thanks for writing an article about him.
That website made me very happy. Do you suppose it made the cast and crew of Birdemic happy? “Hey guys, Birdemic website now up check it out” James Gnuyen probably wrote to them, and they did and I bet once they’d sort of managed to work it out they were excited.
That looks great, brill sfx, and that lady is as fit as duck. Whoops, avian slip!
I for one was truly moved to tears a classic for our times.
Wow – nice link man.
46 years later, we finally have the technology to remake “The Birds” using CGI.
Google Images has long been awash with animated GIFs of increasingly obscure birds. Finally, someone has used every last one of them in a film.
This is Nigelica Harpaloon emailing from beyong the grave. Specifically, two streets beyond the grave in an internet cafe. When will the next show from Radio Spiritworld be broadcast? I need to send an urgent message to my half-sister in the land of the living and she’s not on email.

“Let’s go guys, the Eagles are coming” What a stunning bit of dialogue.
I can imagine that when the filmmaker is walking up to the podium to receive his inevitable award, they’ll loop that bit of dialogue to repeat over and over and over. And the audience will be moved to a standing ovation.
We shall bring you news from beyond the grave soon.
Gnuyen?
Nguyen!
Tsk.
Thanks. Have now spelt correcktlee. Cheers!
