If a child suddenly became a military historian…

…he would probably sound like this…

I love the use of phrases like ‘what happened then is’, ‘did another action’ and ‘in other words, they killed ‘em’. But for me the mark of a true military historian has to be a t-shirt with the word ‘Surf’ on it.

I really love the way he uses the word “obviously”

Reminds me of the way the kids speak in this old Australian ad:

“Obviously… obviously… obviously”. Obviously!

Yes I agree this very funny, and spot on Robert; 'then they brought out the choppers with massive guns on either side!'

Being a complete arse I was looking to post a comparative link to A J P Taylor or something; but I found this instead – http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XFTATrnSA9Y&feat... what is this, is it funny?

It was obvious. Then it was just unfortunate.

I've never herd the first world war referred to as the 1914 war.

Hey! It was shot (and possibly edited) by the same cameraman who shot that actor's showreel!

Wow, he really looks nervous, just like a kid hoping he's not going to be told off by their teacher.

Brilliant

Favourite bits: calling the Vietcong 'vietcongs', the guns fired “about a thousand rounds”, 'they DID another action plan”

In my brave new world, I'd use that guy to explain everything from out of control inflation to why the police keep shooting people in the street. I think he's someone the people would trust, even though he never makes eye contact.

Isn't he Professor Richard Holmes' replacement on the next series of War Walks?

The funniest thing is if you Google “Simon Mallitt”, I assume it's the same person anyway (actually there's quite a few military-type posts around the internet by Simon):

“Is it hard to get in the SAS becouse i am intrested
of joining the SAS but i just want some advice.”
