Three fantastic Soviet ads from the 80′s. The second ad (at 01:55) is one of the most amazing things I’ve ever seen. It’s like a Portishead video squared.

And that music….

The second one reminds of of ABC as they saw themselves.

Now I know what I want for Christmas – a cassette player with two headphone sockets! Maybe then I'll be able to get a girlfriend. Especially if I'm wearing a colourchanging suit and being followed by a hover chandelier.

    Nice!

terrific stuff. the music from the first vid is a much sought after Italo-Disco classic.

seeing those vision-mix wipes makes me feel sad inside. they are at once both futuristic and accessible (i.e. cheap) for video editors to sprinkle liberally in video productions. however once you have seen them used anywhere else they are immediately out-of-date. they have a shelf-life of 'one-use'.

There's some great Soviet era Estonian ads on YouTube as well. One had experimental dancing and frowns in a rug shop. And you wonder why the USSR fell.

Probably a bit late to the party on this one, but the music that kicks in at 30 seconds is part of Giorgio Moroder's score to his colourised and re-edited version of Metropolis. This is probably a better use of it though!
