This is why…
I’m very excited. For the past couple of years I’ve been developing a show called Friday Night Dinner. It’s a comedy about a Jewish family who have dinner with each other every…you guessed it…Friday night. It’s kind of about the way we revert to being kids again when we go back home to our parent’s.
Anyway, the photo is from the pilot I finished at Christmas. I have an incredible cast: Tamsin Greig (Green Wing, Black Books), Simon Bird (Inbetweeners), Paul Ritter (Pulling) and comedy newcomer, Tom Rosenthal. It also stars the hilarious Mark Heap (who played the horrible Leonard Hatred in Look Around You) as their neighbour. On top of that I worked with the amazing director, Steve Bendelack, who’s shot just about everything brill (League of Gentlemen, Royle Family, Little Britain).
Oh – the reason I’m smiling is that the series has just been commissioned and it’s coming to Channel 4 next year.
So, do you mind if I just say, ‘Hoorah?’
HOORAH!
