Two of the greatest cover versions ever…

Oh I seriously love this. Here are two amazing covers by The Bog Men. First up is ‘Let’s Twist Again’ which pays no heed to time signatures or the proper scanning of lines. Don’t forget to watch the second clip below as well. You’ll love them both…

And here’s Outkast’s ‘Hey Ya’. Yup. Really…

Good find @lornalily.

Thankyou so much. Someone should tell Jools Holland about them.

I love the fact that most of the 'audience' are more interested in the donkey. I think the experimental keyboard player is really on to something though.

haha! Just when I thought it couldn't get any better along came a donkey

My wife just walked in and – genuinely – asked if I was listening to Bob Dylan.

Did those people come to see this band? I love the deathly screams of the children at the end of the first one. Clearly old men should never be let loose with DJ mode on Yamaha keyboards.

I did actually almost die when the guy on keyboards realized the keyboard could make sound effects during Twist ‘N’ Shout. I have a hundred questions about these guys that I wish I knew the answers too, not least of which being, where did they come across Outkast, and then how did they get to like it so much that they thought; ‘yeah, let’s cover that with our yokel folk band’!

The whole thing has a Waiting For Godot feel to it, does it not? – the singer and the keyboard player are clearly Vladimir and Estragon and just when you feel that the whole song has become locked into compulsive circularity, what should happen but we have the arrival of a possy who clearly are a direct nod to Potzo and Lucky! I have no doubt the Becketian undercurrent was the intention of the talented director of this piece.

If I'd known about them earlier I'd have got them to number 1 for Christmas.

Mark E. Smith is ripping these guys off.

    Unfollowing you now. Thanks.

  • Phew!

Sorry Robert, it seems Wogan beat you to the punch on this one by a couple of decades (his face during the video is priceless). http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xvkl0vNnd3k

In a way I'm relieved about these Bogmen guys. At least they seem to be an actual parody band who are playing intentionally badly for the public amusement. Unlike Crystal Swing who unfortunately are for real (much to our national shame).

Still, thanks for the laughs. These guys are something else.

*edit: It seems Disqus won't let me post a youtube link in the comment section but if you search “bogmen Wogan” on youtube, it's the first result. Enjoy!
