Robin Cooper’s Communication Problems

by Robert Popper on May 7, 2010 · 20 comments

Another phone call: the host to this foreign language show seemed so friendly and kind. I just loved our complete ‘non conversation’, and the fact that somehow so much seemed to be understood by both of us despite all the long pauses. He also has just about the best stare I have ever seen…

I have to admit I have always enjoyed the phrase, ‘My only friend’…

Here is is on Boing Boing, with some translation kindly offered.

This is the start of something beautiful.

Amazing! The long pauses are brilliant! What the bugger was he doing/thinking?

What happened to Martin Bayle, Tony Chatham and the rest of your friends?

That was lovely. I think his English was a lot better than he was letting on though.

    Inspired

    Excellent!

    “God bless you both” :)

Such a pleasant stare. I'd love to know what he was saying… can anyone translate?

The guy was actually nice. At the end of the call, he did say 'Let's all pray for this sister of ours…'

This is one of the funniest things i've ever seen.

  • jman

He said “lets pray for our sister”!!!

when you asked him what he'd been doing…he said he had just sat there all day …and that now he was doing a programme on Astrology!!!

    thats freakin hilarious!!!

It was interesting, but also a litle bit sad if you think about it. There are a lot of lonely elderly people in the world, makes you think about volunteering to help them (ok, well it makes me think about it).

It was a bit sad wasn't it.
