Apparently an old Newfoundland Christmas tradition. Nothing strange.

Reminds me of our Christmas traditions in Sweden were we at dawn on the 9th of december, dress up as wolfs and make break ins at all of our neighbours houses where we cook up some nice  ”Glömpt” – very strong and very acidic mulled wine, which we then sacrifice to the local vicar, who downs it all on a ceremony the next day. Then it all ends with a huge game of Twister on the Church floor. You have to book in advance for that nowadays though as it’s very popular.

This tradition is almost as important as the annual Christmas eve showing of Die Hard II which always begins at ten on Swedish TV. But that’s after the Jule Ram has come with plastic pearl necklaces and strong liquorice for the kids.

Isn’t that a scene from The Wicker Man?

Now hang on a moment, the dog’s disappeared,
and why is that child there wearing Dad’s beard?
A suit made of nipples?  Now isn’t that weird?
Oh this is much worse than I’d feared!

Got your books for Christmas (I had requested them!) and they are superb.
    Keep up the good work.
